The Wichard 16mm not self-locking bow shackle is forged from 316L stainless steel for heavy rigging and attachment points. The bow shape leaves extra room to join several lines or cables in one shackle. Wichard publishes working and breaking loads for each size.
Forging gives the shackle its strength, and 316L stainless resists corrosion in salt water. The pin engages locking indentations that help resist loosening from vibration. Wichard identifies this model as not self-locking.
Confirm the shackle diameter, opening, working load, and pin style against every fitting it connects. Do not use HR shackles for mooring where Wichard excludes that use, and inspect the body and pin for wear before loading. Browse more Sailing Hardware for other Wichard shackles.
