The Suunto PM-5 is the classic optical clinometer and height meter — the pocket instrument foresters have used for decades to measure tree heights, tower elevations, and slope angles. Sight the target through the adjustable-diopter optics, hold the instrument steady, and read the scale from the liquid-damped, dual-sapphire-bearing disc to 1/4° accuracy.
Suunto builds the PM-5 in several scale configurations, offered here as versions: 360 PC pairs ±90° degree and ±150% percent scales; 1520 carries direct height scales for 15 m and 20 m measuring distances; 1520 PC adds a percent scale to the height scales; 66 PC reads heights at a 66 ft measuring distance plus percent; and SPC carries Suunto’s secant percent configuration. All share the anodized light-alloy housing, cosine/cotangent conversion table, lanyard, and belt-loop nylon pouch. Made in Finland, 2-year warranty.
