The Barebones Beacon Lantern in red is a rechargeable 3-watt CREE light giving 220 lumens on high or 30 on low.
A lantern is easier to place than a flashlight, which is the reason to carry one at all. A flashlight has to be held or propped and lights one direction. A lantern sits on a table or hangs from a ridgeline and lights the space around it, leaving both hands free.
Two hundred and twenty lumens for about 3 hours covers task work; 30 lumens for up to 200 hours covers everything else. That spread is unusually wide, and the low setting is what makes the lantern useful through a power outage lasting days rather than an evening.
It runs on an included 18650 rechargeable cell with a 30-inch charging cord supplied. The compact stamped-steel body moves easily around a camp or stores with emergency supplies without taking much space. Explore more lanterns.
